maids just wanna have fun...?

Tee-hee.
*grins*

these strong, determined ladies may spend half their time getting up close and personal with stoves, kitchen benches, and toilet bowls, but that doesn't automatically turn them into, say, social outcasts, so to speak.

In fact, they put so much effort into striving to perform their daily house chores consistently and effectively during the week that they take their downtime pretty seriously whenever it comes around.

Of course there's nothing wrong with wanting to indulge in the luxury of having nothing to do. The thought of getting a day or two at the end of each week all for themselves -- a time when they can just chill and let off some steam while at the same time they try to keep up with whatever is going on the local maid community, is just too good to resist.

Yeah. You got that right.

So what exactly do our sophisticated, uber-cool, high-profile uptown maids get into whenever they're not scrubbing sinks and mopping windows and whatnot?

Why, socializing, of course!

Life can sometimes be tough, but in the end there's always a reason to smile.
Agreed? :)

That said, you can go under their skin and get a glimpse of the daily struggles they go through everyday by watching "PELANGI": The Movie!

Tickets for the screenings are out now! Grab them NOW, for $10 each.

You know the drill; the contact persons are listed on the left sidebar.
Give 'em a call, or something. They're getting restless as we speak.

But then again, so are the rest of us!
*shivers at the thought*

...meet PELANGI.

A simple girl with a big heart, this sincere girl comes from a poor family in rural Indonesia.

She's cheery, funny, and bubbly. Her down-to-earth persona overflows with positivity and optimism, and she views her life as a long, valuable journey full of amazing surprises. She brings along with her a sense of pure happiness whenever she goes, a trait that her friends and acquaintances acknowledge as being a natural talent that defines her.

Having spent her entire life living in a small rural village, at first she wasn't used to the overwhelming stress that comes with living in a foreign city. Her innocence often defies her; she can be naive and extremely accepting at times, yet at the same time this is what keeps her going, as her perseverance and positivity have their roots in her sense of selfless virtue.

Among her most valuable possessions is her precious diary, in which she records her personal recollections of memorable moments and events to help her get through each day. She regards the diary as her faithful friend and never fails to write her journal entries daily.

She's focused, determined, and hardworking. She fights for her dreams, strives for the best, and is not afraid to fail. She believes that everything happens for a reason, and she knows that no matter how tough her life is, her existence serves a great, noble purpose.

She can cook. She's adept at writing. She takes care of her chores meticulously. Yes, she may be careless, but many say that's part of her charm.

And boy can she clean.
Hand her a mop and a bucket of sanitized water and she's good to go.
*laughs*

her beautiful name is written across the soft, gleaming sand...

...so to speak.

That artsy piece right there *points of image above* was the outcome of just one out of many creative - sometimes freaky - things our faithful, hardworking crew members came up with when going through their breaks in between takes.

Well, other than desperately trying to stay warm and not get hypothermia, of course.

That's just what's bound to happen when you try shooting beach scenes, at the beach (d-duh!), at the very peak of winter.

But that was exactly what we did!
And, thank God, we survived, frostbite-free. *winks*

FYI, when shooting their parts, the cast members had to wear conventional Indonesian high-school uniforms. You know, the usual white shirt and the gray, ruffly skirt?

We all know for a fact that other than being universally-known as extremely dull and uncool as far as teenage fashion goes, this infamous white-and-gray ensemble also lacks enough provision of the adequate level of protective warmth needed to survive the gloomy days of winter. It certainly is a far cry from the kind of stuff one would normally wear to ward off frosty winter chills and the like.

Go figure.

For your point of comparison, this was what our crew members typically bundled themselves up in.

And this was what our main actresses had to wear during their scenes.

Yeah. That really puts things into perspective doesn't it?

Can you imagine how COLD and FREEZING they must've felt?
Where are those fancy wool coats and portable heaters when you need them?

But no, not even once did they complain. They went through their scenes professionally, regardless of the extremely unwelcoming weather. Their only shield against the chill was a bright-blue towel that crew members wrapped around them whenever they finished doing a scene. That, and the occasional sudden presence of a spare jacket, sometimes provided by fellow crew members as a token of genuine kindness, at other times possibly seized by force. *laughs*

"Am I holding this light-reflecting device thingy right?"

Oh, a random fact: We even came across a stray jellyfish!

Poor thing wanted to join the shoot, perhaps?
You may not make the cut for the movie, not so we hope, but we're putting you up here! :)

At the end of the day, it all wasn't so much about how perfect the resulting shots were as it was about how important and memorable all the little moments that happened in between were to all of us personally.

The experiences we gained are just priceless.
And we mean that. Sincerely.

There you go, fellas.
Enough said. *smiles*

And yeah.
We do hope the actual stuff you'll all get to see in the screening will be as good as we really want them to be. We've put our hearts into trying to make this movie a memorable and meaningful experience for you guys, and we hope we'll be able to achieve our targets and get the messages across.

Be sure to watch out for more updates, only on this blog.
